Camargue celebrates new look, new premises …and ten years of successful partnerships!
On 8 September, under an Arabian tent, and surrounded by joyful friends, Camargue Underwriting Managers toasted its decade of success, showed off its impressive new premises in Melrose Estate, and honoured mentors and partners that have stood by the company since its inception and into its new phase of growth.
Mitch Marescia, founding member and Camargue Managing Director, reflected on the path that the company has taken to achieve the achievements and growth that it has experienced in ten years. He thanked Achim Klennert of Hanover Re, and Paul Ray, formerly of Africa Re, for their support in providing the necessary reinsurance capital for Camargue to be able to underwrite its risks initially. He honoured his mentor, Peter Downham, for the expertise and experience that he brought to this new company in 2001 with its unconventional approach to insurance.
Mitch described as “a dream come true” the call that he received from Keith Kennedy and Caroline da Silva of Mutual & Federal, resulting in Camargue being appointed as Mutual & Federal’s underwriter.
