The Insurance Institute of Gauteng’s Inaugural Presidential Dinner, held at the Galleria in Sandton on 12 March, once again proved why it remains a standout occasion on the insurance industry calendar. The evening served as both a celebration of the dedication shown by IIG council members in fulfilling their commitments and a significant moment of transition, as the presidency was formally handed over to new leadership.
Elegant and energetic in equal measure, this year’s event captured the spirit of occasion beautifully. Guests embraced the “black tie with a twist” dress code, drawing on a chess-inspired theme that brought creativity and flair to the evening’s glamour. Adding to the sense of anticipation was the Institute’s 2026 theme, Aspire Together, which set the tone for a year of shared ambition and purposeful leadership.
A key highlight of the evening was the official handover from outgoing president Wilmine Prinsloo to incoming president Jabulile Mtimkulu. With the newly elected council now in place, 2026 promises to be a year of fresh momentum and meaningful impact for the Institute.
For COVER, the evening offered a valued opportunity to meet the new president, reconnect with industry colleagues and friends, and make new connections in a setting that celebrated both leadership and community.
Congratulations to Jabulile Mtimkulu and the 2026 council. We look forward to seeing the Insurance Institute of Gauteng reach new heights under your guidance in the year ahead.
