As one of the pioneers in emerging markets investing, Templeton’s investment philosophy–value, patience, bottom-up emerging markets investing–has remained consistent over time.

Templeton Eastern Europe Fund aims to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in listed equity securities of issuers organised under the laws of or having their principal activities within the countries of Eastern Europe, as well as the New Independent States, i.e. the countries in Europe and Asia that were formerly part of or under the influence of the Soviet Union. The investment team uses in-depth financial analysis to select individual securities that it believes are undervalued and will provide the best opportunities for increased value over the long term.

Templeton Asian Growth Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in equity securities of companies that are incorporated or have their area of primary activity in Asia. The Fund may also invest in equity securities, which are listed on recognised exchanges in capital markets of the Asia region (excluding Australia, New Zealand, and Japan).  The team invests with a long-term view in Asian companies that it believes are undervalued, fundamentally strong, growing, and capable of weathering difficult times. The team also looks at a wide range of criteria to evaluate companies, including earnings prospects, return on capital, margins, asset value, growth and cash flow.

The Franklin Templeton team said: “We are extremely happy that the Raging Bull Awards celebrated two diverse fund offerings from our product stable, which highlights our expertise in serving South African investors with a wide range of offshore portfolios”.
