On Thursday 25th July Granadilla celebrated its first year in operation. CEO and Founder Jonathan Walker explained that, while Granadilla is an insurance provider, he is still a proper techie and this is at the core of the business and the operational model. As he, his team and his partners marked a key milestone – one year in business – he reiterated the significance of the fourth industrial revolution that is currently underway in South Africa.
Says Walker, “There’s one word that describes our first year in operation – explosive. It’s been about brand building and customer recognition and we are climbing fast. We are driving the fourth industrial revolution in SA and we are also looking at other territories. If we continue to be cheaper and more transparent, it is better for everybody.”
Wim Morland of Bryte Insurance (Granadilla’s underwriters), had this to say: “we are very excited about being part of this partnership. Celebrating a year is a great milestone that has taken a lot of hard work and great ambitions. For Bryte it has been a good learning curve as we have had to stretch our underwriting capabilities. Granadilla is not just a tech business, it’s a customer experience business,” says Morland.
