<p dir="ltr">Travellers affected by the expected South African Airways (SAA) strike from tomorrow, who have also taken out Hollard Travel insurance, will be covered.</p>

<p dir="ltr">SAA has announced that it has cancelled all local and international flights on 15 and 16 November, in response to the strike. It says it will reimburse customers, reschedule their flights or find seats for them on other carriers’ aircraft. Changing flights is not the only concern as travellers would have booked accommodation, etc. to be in line with their original flight itinerary.</p>

<p dir="ltr">“Those of our customers who are impacted by the anticipated two-day industrial action by SAA staff are covered under the travel Delay and missed connection benefits due to an unexpected, unforeseen strike. Cover is provided for the additional cost of meals and accommodation,” says Uriah Jansen, Head of Hollard Travel.</p>

<p dir="ltr">“In addition, our insurance policy includes cancel for any reason cover, which will reimburse them 50% of the cancellation costs of any pre-paid, non-refundable travel and accommodation.”</p>

<p dir="ltr">However, it is too late for those travellers who have not yet taken out travel insurance.</p>

<p dir="ltr">“Because the SAA strike is a known event, travellers will not be covered if they buy travel insurance now,” says Jansen. “This clearly illustrates the value of buying travel insurance early and being covered for the unexpected.”</p>
