<h2>IRMSA Congratulates Dr Gert Cruywagen on being appointed IFRIMA President</h2>

The Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr Gert Cruywagen on being elected President of the International Federation of Risk and Insurance Management Associations (IFRIMA).  IFRIMA is the international umbrella organisation for risk management associations, representing 20 organisations and over 30 countries around the world.

Dr Cruywagen has represented IRMSA on the IFRIMA Board for several terms and has served most recently as an Executive Vice-President until his election as President.  As President, he will represent IRMSA for the coming year and continue to build strong ties, along with the IRMSA President and CEO, with the other global risk management associations.

Gert has a longstanding relationship with the Institute as an esteemed Fellow member.  Honorary Life Membership was conferred to Gert in recognition of his contribution to risk management.  In addition, he wrote Board Exam 2 and was one of the first individuals to successfully receive the highly sought-after designation Certified Risk Management Professional (CRM Prof).

One of the IRMSA Executive Committee’s strategic objectives is to work with its global partners to align strategy and certification.  South Africa is a leader in the practice of risk management and is respected for its maturity.  IFRIMA appointing a President from South Africa is great acknowledgement thereof and illustrates how the profile of the continent has been raised globally.  We are sure the relations with our international partners will be further strengthened during the coming year.

It is an outstanding achievement that IRMSA is recognised by the global village, through the appointment of Dr Gert Cruywagen as IFRIMA President, for being at the forefront of the profession.  South Africa continues to make its impact globally!  This ties in with the IRMSA theme for 2019 ‘#impact - A Year of Risk Activism’.

We are most appreciative of his contribution to the risk fraternity and wish Gert all the best for his tenure as IFRIMA President.
