Sanlam today announced the 50th Sanlam Group Awards for Excellence in Financial Journalism attracted a record number of entries. The total number of entries for the competition received from African financial journalists across the continent was 237 compared to 171 in 2024.

Eighty-seven entries were from South Africa, followed by 52 from Nigeria, Uganda with 24, Ghana with 18, and Kenya with 15 entries. In all, financial journalists from 17 countries submitted their best work for the independent judging panel to adjudicate.

The independent judges have commenced the work of evaluating the entries and expected to announce in August the shortlisted entries for the awards, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. The gala awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday 2 October in Johannesburg.
