It is often said that ‘’from little things, big things grow’’ and such is the case with the IRMSA Sustainability campaign focusing on the significance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. This initiative is dedicated to showcasing the positive influence of sustainability practices within communities. The inaugural visit took place at Moduopo Primary School in Tembisa. Moduopo has embarked on a remarkable journey towards sustainability by establishing a community garden.  Not only does this garden supplement the school meals but also plays a vital role in supporting the local community. To mark our commitment, IRMSA planted the 20^th anniversary ceremonial tree at the school and donated various fruit and vegetable seeds for the community garden.

The learners who form part of the school’s eco-team received a fun and detailed lesson on climate change while the IRMSA team was in turn treated to a poem written by the learners on the importance of planting more trees and being intentional about making our communities green.

We commend the leadership and teachers of Moduopo for incorporating this experience into their curriculum thus connecting education and sustainability principles. Through this we hope to see self-reliant communities and nurture future environmentalists.
