The Road Freight Association (RFA) is hearing from more and more of its Members how the fuel cost strain is affecting survival – with more and more businesses in stress / business rescue, whilst customers reduce volumes that need to be transported or even curtail stock movement.

Prevailing inequalities were most recently brought to light by well-documented findings that women business owners were impacted more materially by COVID-19 than their male counterparts[1]. The key to solving this disparity lies in creating a more enabling environment for women operating in the SME sector.

A new Sanlam survey found 60% of South Africans are saving for their wind-down years, however, just 37% are saving consistently. 34% of the 1 200 respondents said they see retirement as the time to start a second career, while 24% believe they won’t be able to afford to stop working at all.

While the role of women in society continues to evolve, so does the need for them to be exposed to financial planning resources that will allow them to fend for and protect their families accordingly.
