Allianz Trade has announced the appointment of Luke Morawitz (43), currently serving as Head of Credit for South Africa, as the new Country Manager for Allianz Trade in South Africa, effective 1 February 2026. Morawitz will assume this role while retaining his responsibilities as Head of Credit.

In his new capacity, Morawitz will report directly to Luca Burrafato, Head of Mediterranean Countries, Middle East and Africa (MMEA), with a dotted reporting line to Thierry Etheve, Credit Director MMEA.

Morawitz joined Allianz Trade in 2012 as one of the first two analysts in the Credit Assessment team following the establishment of the South African risk office. Over the past 14 years, he has held several leadership roles, including Head of Credit Assessment in 2016 and Credit Director in 2021. Before joining Allianz Trade, he spent four years within the risk function of another trade credit insurer.

Luke holds a BCompt (Bachelor of Accounting Sciences) degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA), a qualification that has reinforced the strong strategic, financial and analytical foundation he brings to his leadership roles.
