Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk advisor, have announced the appointment of Junior John Ngulube as the Independent Non–Executive Chairman of Marsh Pty Ltd, the board of Marsh Africa.

Based in South Africa, Mr. Ngulube is one of Africa’s leading insurance and reinsurance executives. He brings to Marsh over 30 years of experience leading businesses across the continent. He is currently Vice-Chairman of Sanlam Pan Africa, where he led the firm’s acquisition of Morocco-based Saham Finances Group, and has also served as CEO of Sanlam Emerging Markets. Previously, he held a range of senior roles at Munich Re for 30 years, ultimately as CEO of the Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa and Chairman of its former subsidiary, the Munich Mauritius Reinsurance Company, which covered over 40 countries on the continent. 

Mr. Ngulube has led various insurance industry organisations; he is the past President of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng and the Insurance Institute of South Africa, as well as the former Chairman of the Insurance Industry Employers’ Association. He was awarded the Lifetime Achiever Award for service to the insurance and reinsurance industry by the Insurance Institute of South Africa in 2014.
