Sasria SOC Ltd and IISA launch groundbreaking youth skills development programmes

The CEO Mpumi Tyikwe Sasria SOC Ltd and CEO Thokozile Mahlangu, of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) exclusively invites you to the official launch event of the two pioneering skills development programmes designed to accelerate transformation and youth empowerment in the short-term insurance industry.

As part of Sasria’s ongoing Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and national skills development drive, the initiative aims to equip young South Africans with industry-relevant qualifications and leadership capabilities addressing the twin challenges of youth unemployment and a shortage of diverse talent in the insurance sector. The importance of such initiatives cannot be overstated, the South Africa’s overall unemployment rate reached 32.9% in the first quarter of 2025, with 46.1% of youth aged 15–34 and a staggering 62.4% of those aged 15–24 unemployed. These figures highlight the urgency of interventions that provide young people with pathways to meaningful work and entrepreneurship.

The two flagship programmes being launched are:

  • The Black Broker Leadership Programme, that will focus on developing and supporting emerging black insurance brokers to become leaders and entrepreneurs within the sector.
  • The Loss Adjustor Programme, which will provide technical training and practical experience to build much-needed expertise and broaden access to professional insurance careers.

These programmes underscore Sasria’s commitment to building an inclusive, competitive, and future-ready insurance ecosystem one that mirrors the diversity and potential of South Africa’s youth.
